4. Thanksgiving prayer
The prayer of thanksgiving “characterizes the prayer of the Church that, in celebrating the Eucharist, manifests and becomes more and more what she is” (2637).
It is a common type of prayer, but it is not practiced often. We may pray for a specific request, but when God answers our prayers, we tend to forget to thank Him . Jesus pointed out this fault when he healed 10 lepers, but only one came back to give thanks: “How, were not all ten cleansed? The other nine, where are they? Did not anyone give thanks again to God, but this stranger? “(Luke 17: 17-18).
